Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS)

We help your business thrive by providing consultation and 360-degree compliance with AICIS.

What is AICIS?

The Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) has replaced the previously known National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) since July 1, 2021. AICIS is a government body that helps regulate the use of industrial chemicals such as inks, plastics, adhesives, paints, glues, solvents, cosmetics, soaps and many other products. AICIS also provide information to promote the safe use of industrial chemicals.

Every Industrial chemical imported into Australia (or new chemical locally produced) must be checked against the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) to establish:

  • If it is already listed on the inventory and the intended use meets the defined scope of assessment and conditions of use;
  • Determine if the Chemical has Specific Information Requirements (SIR);
  • If not present on the AIIC, then proceed to Categorise the Chemical according to AICIS guidelines to ensure Regulatory compliance.

Depending on the Categorisation outcome, the documentation preparation and record keeping may be Simple or Complex hence a very good understanding of the Regulations is required to ensure compliance with optimum use of time and resources.

The experienced team at CS Executive Group Inc. ChemSkill can assist your company to navigate through the AICIS regulations and help meet your Regulatory obligations.
