Our client is a well-known and highly respected Food Manufacturer. They are part of a global, diversified international group employing over 100,000 employees worldwide. With clarity on future direction and clearly defined values, our client is one of Australia’s and New Zealand’s largest food manufacturers.

 

ROLE

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this role is based in Regional Victoria, near Bendigo. This Weekend Manager role starts on Friday and finishes on Monday.

The person in this role will deal with day to day operations of the plant during weekends and delegate work on behalf of Manufacturing Manager. Ideally, we are looking for someone with a minimum of five yeas’ of operations management experience.

With a decent number of direct and indirect reports, the successful candidate will be responsible for achieving daily production plans, management of production staff performance and site safety while attaining the highest level of product quality and safety in the manufacturing plant.

As such responsibilities include:

  • Weekend working hours
  • Day to day support to Manufacturing Manager with running of manufacturing site including production planning and staff management
  • Ensure the highest standard of product quality by ensuring smooth production running
  • Lead, coach and develop direct and indirect report ensuring employees safety at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislations
  • Initiate and support the implementation of efficiency improvements and corrective actions to ensure ongoing effective management
  • Support the assessment of employer’s performance, make recommendations regarding opportunities and development
  • Responsible for quality, food safety, import, export and regulatory requirements – reduce and eliminate quality failures

This is a very large, complex and fast-paced operation and requires leaders that are passionate about safety and people. You must be decisive and confident, able to work with cross functional teams to ensure all concerns are addressed appropriately.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Formal qualifications in HSE / OHS and a  Certificate IV in Training  is highly desirable
  • At least 5 years experience in a Operation Manager’s role in Manufacturing
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing facility and will have a good understanding of production and manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Experience working in a team that has implemented cultural change / behavioural change in a large to medium workplace
  • Proven experience identifying and deploying process improvements
  • Stakeholder engagement to build and leverage internal customer relationships to deliver business outcomes
  • People management experience
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills to increase safety leadership capability in the business
  • Excellent time management skills and a can-do attitude
