Our client, a proudly owned family business for almost seven decades, continues to be a leader in surface-coated building products. Specialists in UV coating technology, they service some of the largest companies in the New Zealand building industry.

With strict quality control processes, highly experienced staff and a fully equipped R&D facility, they work closely with clients to develop bespoke technical solutions to meet their needs.

 

ROLE

This managerial role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional with strong communication and leadership skills who is passionate for new technology and has proven experience in surface coatings, including product development, product application, and product manufacturing.

Reporting to the CEO and the R&D Design Director, the Technical Services Manager will be responsible for the execution of the company’s scientific research projects including the introduction of new products and processes. The successful candidate will also lead the QC and QA efforts to ensure adherence to product specifications and continuous improvements in every aspect of manufacturing.

Other responsibilities associated with this role include:

  • Daily QC of manufactured products, record keeping and report writing
  • Assisting manufacturing operations with problem solving with regards to paint products, boards and manufacturing equipment
  • Working with factory and engineering staff to implement improved processes and manufacturing techniques
  • Making recommendations for process improvements based on testing procedures and results
  • The development of SOPs, conditions and procedures as needed, to ensure compliance to various quality systems and manufacturing practices
  • Investigation of customer complaints/faults and the development of corrective actions

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application you will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Materials or Surface Coatings
  • Proven work experience in surface coatings including QA, QC and product development
  • Working knowledge of UV coatings will be highly regarded
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to deal and communicate with a variety of stakeholders, technical and non-technical
  • Knowledge of relevant quality systems and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and resolve any internal and external issues as they arise
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, to assist you in dealing with a diverse range of clients
  • Strong computer skills
  • Full working rights
