CLIENT

Our client is one of New Zealand’s largest independent scientific organisations offering a broad spectrum of services to the primary industry sector. They offer their technical expertise to a wide variety government organisations, private enterprises and other research groups in New Zealand and globally. They have 200 scientists and technicians who are experts in aquaculture research, food safety and quality, biosecurity and analytical testing. Due to the demand for their services they are looking to employ a Technical Operations Manager to oversee the growth of the business.

 

ROLE

In this high profile position you will be responsible for managing the Analytical Services R & D section, providing technical support and analytical testing solutions to a range of clients locally and internationally. You also will be instrumental in growing the R & D and Food testing revenue generated through targeted business development and increasing the companies capabilities be developing new scientific methods. Finally you will be in charge of a variety of projects, have 15 direct reports as well as overseeing other internal and external stakeholders.

 

REQUIREMENTS

To be suitable for this position you will need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Hold a relevant Post Graduate (PhD or Masters) Science degree with a minimum of ten years of experience in research or consulting laboratory and at least five years business management experience (staff and budget management, planning and reporting)
  • Must be highly technically proficient and have been involved in method development when it comes to equipment such as GC-MC, LC-MS, HPLC, ICP-MS and other related analytical equipment
  • Proven experience in securing funding for research and consulting programmes/projects
  • Good project management and client/stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Must hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenships in order to have working rights in NZ
