Our client is a well established, international, processed metal manufacturing and distribution company, with the main manufacturing site co-located with its Head Office in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. In addition to a second manufacturing site in Sydney, they also have sale offices and warehousing across Australia, together with a significant export business that is experiencing strong growth. Their own manufactured product range is augmented with distribution on behalf of several other metal related Company products, into clients as diverse as building, construction, and plumbing, through to mining, aerospace, marine & transport industries.

Due to our client’s consistent business growth, the current manufacturing site is undergoing process improvements and implementation of automation within their manufacturing department.



This managerial role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who has a passion for quality and improvement of manufacturing processes with experience in the metals and alloys industry.

The successful candidate will have the responsibility for the set up of ISO9001 Quality Management System, accreditation, and its ongoing maintenance.

Other duties in this role include product innovation while collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders.  Additionally, as a technical expert, you will be the point of contact for any technical issues related to product manufacturing or clients.


  • Review internal quality policies and procedures against existing processes across all departments and conduct a gap analysis
  • Develop a Quality Management System according to ISO9001 specifications and implement revised policies and procedures across the business
  • Manage the complete process of ISO9001 accreditation for the business and ensure retention of the certification
  • Carry out audit planning, internal audits, and host external audits
  • Lead the laboratory and manage one staff member and their performance
  • Conduct new product development and improvement of existing products according to client specifications and various manufacturing parameters
  • Become a technical point of contact to deal with technical issues both internally and from external clients
  • Attend to customer complaints and resolve technical issues



To be considered for this role, applicants will need to substantiate how they meet the following criteria:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent
  • Experience in an industrial product manufacturing environment
  • Solid experience with auditing, revising and writing policies and procedures according to ISO9001 standards
  • Experience with new product development and technical investigations in the metals industry will be highly regarded 
  • Project management and understanding of product development in relation to product performance and available manufacturing parameters
  • Have excellent time management skills to deal with different ongoing projects within quality and technical duties
  • Have well-developed problem-solving skills to deal with both internal and external issues as they arise
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to assist you in dealing with a diverse range of clients.
