  • Conducting routine testing (both wet chemistry & physical testing) of sample blends destined for evaluation by a customer;
  • Maintaining meticulous records with an assigned laboratory notebook;
  • Collating documentation associated with blended chemicals (i.e., BOM and SDS information); and
  • Handling of bulk chemicals in drums using appropriate carrying/lifting equipment.

Our client will provide all of the necessary training opportunities need in order for the successful candidate to be able to fulfill the duties assigned to the Technical Assistant.

To be successful in your application you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum of a bachelor degree in chemistry, preferably with some industry experience within a laboratory setting;
  • Confidence with the consistent formulation of small-scale test batches of blends of polyurethane-based products for various customer applications;
  • Knowledge of wet chemistry techniques (e.g., determination of pH and water content by Karl Fischer titration);
  • Ability to use an FTIR instrument to obtain spectrophotometric measurements;
  • Proven time management skills, which enable activities associated with several projects to be undertaken in parallel;
  • Competency in record keeping, using a laboratory notebook issued by the client, and with collating scientific documentation to be provided to customers; and
  • Physical capability to safely handle large drums of chemicals using designated lifting equipment, as provided by the client.

You will need to be able to portray your enthusiasm for working in a setting relating to industrial chemicals and draw upon examples of your prior use of your initiative in real-life situations.
