Senior Research Engineer
Australia, New South Wales
Full Time
  • Smart R&D Engineers work here and so you probably want to too
  • Be rewarded for delivering innovative products with a sustainable advantage
  • Pure R&D for real-world solutions for the building material industry

This role provides you with a career opportunity within a highly recognised international manufacturing brand, which is an innovator in building materials and a leader within the market sectors they occupy. They are an ASX and NYSE-listed, growth-focused company with a unique business model that consistently delivers above average results in the market.

This well-known name seeks someone who embodies the company’s “3P values”: Perceptive; Persistent; and Pragmatic—you must have a steely focus on achieving goals, continuously learning, and constantly improving.

In this full-time permanent position, as befits the job title of Senior Research Engineer, you will be juggling multiple R&D projects. You’ll already be a capable coach and mentor of junior colleagues.  It is essential you possess the ability to deliver market-led projects through to the commercial manufacturing stage.

This highly demanding position will reward your dogged determination to overcome the inevitable obstacles that come from conducting research with a capital ‘R’. Learning from failures is to be expected and yet so is avoiding falling into a pitfall that could have been seen with the bigger picture in mind.

You need to see yourself:

  • Developing your inquisitiveness through iterative developments, which see you overcome unexpected roadblock as they arise;
  • Leveraging your existing professional network of manufacturing-related specialists to achieve innovative solutions;
  • Collaborating with manufacturing personnel, vendors, and suppliers to deliver the best return on investment to the company; and
  • Accruing the job-specific knowledge and technical expertise to be considered a subject matter expert and privy to trade secrets.

  • Qualifications–what are your academic credentials as a Chemical Engineering Engineer, a Process Engineer, or a Mechanical Engineer;
  • Experience–how long have you been involved in the development of new manufacturing technologies;
  • Intelligence–what ways have you added intellectual property value to the places you have worked;
  • Leadership–where are your supervisory and mentoring skills evident, as distinct from your well-developed interpersonal skill set;
  • Capable–demonstrate the prior experience you have that is relevant to research with a capital “R”;
  • Autonomous–provide insights on your capability to take an idea from concept through to implementation; and
  • Passionate–show us how you’ve triumphed where others might well have thrown in the towel.

Additionally, you will need to have full work rights in Australia.

Be rewarded for your efforts through performance-related bonuses that are directly linked to your endeavours and career progression!

The company’s investment in its R&D capabilities are reflected by the following:

  • Research in Australia is key to activities that involve collaboration globally;
  • Over 80% of projects are new technology, as befits an innovation centre;
  • Their on-site prototyping department and workshop are state of the art; and
  • Offices and R&D laboratories are located in the vicinity of the manufacturing site.
