This exciting permanent full-time position is located on-site in Regional Victoria, approximately 120km from Metropolitan Melbourne. Relocation assistance will be available for the chosen candidate if required.

Reporting to the Head of Technical, the successful candidate will ensure development and delivery of key technology platforms by championing new business ideas.

This is a very large, complex, and fast-paced manufacturing operation and requires a Senior Project Technologist who is passionate about manufacturing with a big focus on food processing, project delivery, quality, food safety, and risk management. Decisive and confident, you will be able to work with cross-functional teams and liaise with all levels of Operations, Engineering, and Suppliers, to ensure all newly developed products and processes are delivered within the approved budget, on time, and at the highest quality. You will have strong leadership qualities and the ability to build credibility and trust by fostering open communication.

This key role will ensure the continued success of the business through collaborative working and influencing across many departments to deliver innovative projects and ensure our client remains a market leader.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Drive innovation – identify, qualify and quantify potential manufacturing opportunities to support continued business improvement and growth
  • Develop and prepare compelling business cases and present these to management to secure approval for resources
  • Undertake full and detailed cost reviews for process optimisation and identify technical risks of projects
  • Conduct Proof of Concept and Proof of Principal trials with internal and external stakeholders
  • Jointly with Project Engineering present full capital business cases to secure the necessary resources and capital funds to complete projects
  • Be a key player in Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Act as 2IC to the Head of Technical Department when required



To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Process Engineering, Food Technology or similar
  • More than 10 years experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment involved in Scientific & Technical activities preferably in high risk food categories
  • Hands-on experience with process development within a R&D or Technical role
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative ideas from concept to commercialisation
  • Experience with conducting the analysis of technical risks, mitigation planning, costing and project planning
  • Strong experience with stakeholder management including Operations, Engineering and the broader business
  • Proven experience with writing ‘New Business Proposals’ and CAPEX
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of driving sustainable business improvement activities
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills to influence a range of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • You will be decisive with a sense of urgency in driving projects to completion within given timelines
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
