CLIENT
Our client is a global Chemical Manufacturer who has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years with a brand new manufacturing facility and state of the art equipment.

THE ROLE
The successful candidate will oversee the technical activities around the development and optimisation of existing manufacturing processes. This will be achieved through improvements from both the engineering and laboratory functions. You will communicate process improvement information from laboratory/engineering to the production team.
This is an exciting and challenging role and will involve developing and deploying novel processes to assist with the production and quality of the product.
It is essential that you will have a strong manufacturing background, a working knowledge of analytical chemistry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:
Managing a small team that includes a Process DevelopmentEngineer, Site Process Technician and R&D Chemists
Providing recommendations around process improvements and new equipment selections
Identifying and providing solutions for any process abnormalities
Maintaining excellent records and writing reports around work conducted, results and conclusions
Working under pressure with strict deadlines
Liaising closely with engineers and production staff
Maintaining a high level of communication to the Site Manager and other managers around results, issues and any recommendations
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet to following criteria:
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or similar
Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a must! (working closely with Production, Process Engineering and Development Chemists)
Must have experience in a Process Improvement role
Experience managing or training staff
Some experience in Analytical Instruments such as HPLC, Autotitrator, Colorimeter and Particle Sizer
Experience with technical reporting, data handling and observation of laboratory experiment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Confident decision maker and demonstrated leadership skills
Good problem solver and a good team player is a must!
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or relevant discipline.
It is anticipated that you will have five or more years of experience working in chemical laboratories as a formulation chemist. etc.
Experience with agrichemicals such as herbicides or pesticides would be highly regarded. However, candidates from other industries are encouraged to apply as technical skills are only one component of the role.
Experience managing and leading a successful laboratory team with a commercial focus.
Team oriented, innovative, humanistic and able to guide teams to successful outcomes are critical traits you must be able to demonstrate.
A strong appreciation of commercial aspects of R&D with a proven ability to meet goals, targets and deadlines.
Experience in managing the effective transfer of projects from laboratory to commercial scale manufacture.
Able to train and reinforce scientific principles and techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and a good team player is a must!
