ROLE
The Senior Analytical Chemist will provide scientific expertise in the area of characterisation and analysis of various development stage pharmaceutical compounds to support the Company’s research and development programs.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Develop methods for conducting analyses of [GH1] pharmaceutical drug substance or drug product candidates and related compounds making full use of a range of analytical techniques including LCMS and HPLC
Undertake analytical and bioanalytical method validation to ICH/EMA/FDA guidelines
Ensure the timely provision of adequate documentation, data and direct input to support the preparation and filing of regulatory submissions to support drug development products
Author and review method validation procedures as well as method development reports
Support the R&D group by providing scientific expertise and laboratory capabilities in the characterisation, purification and analysis of various drug substance or drug product candidates
Assist with the generation, purification and characterisation of large synthetic and biological molecules for research and development programs
REQUIREMENTS
A true team player, the ideal candidate will need to meet the following criteria:
A minimum of BSc with majors in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar. Alternatively, a PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a related field would be well regarded
Minimum five years’ analytical method development/validation experience for the purpose of analytical characterisation of drug substances or drug products, utilising a range of techniques including LCMS and HPLC
Familiarity with Waters Empower, Agilent ChemStation or other chromatographic data acquisition platforms
Experience in the analysis of high molecular weight molecules (eg, polymers, proteins, antibodies and/or oligonucleotides) would be highly regarded
Previous work experience in a Quality accredited laboratory and good working knowledge of relevant pharmaceutical industry standards (e.g. GMP, GLP, ISO 17025) and ICH/FDA/EMA analytical validation guidances).
A diligent and hard worker with the ability to keep detailed records and produce high quality results and reports
Good verbal communication skills and the ability to write scientific documentation to a high standard of language and content
Commitment to teamwork and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of scientific principles, techniques and methods and problem solve as necessity requires
Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task
