Our client is a government body based in Melbourne. This particular Department is involved in the testing of transport fuels using a variety of chromatography instruments, mainly Agilent.. They provide excellent, state of the art facilities and a friendly, supportive work environment. They are currently very busy and have the need for an analytical chemist to join their fuels testing laboratory for one to two years.



The successful candidate will be required to thermally stress fuels in a test rig and then measure changes in molecular weight and degradation profiles using chromatography. This role involves working normal full-time hours, Monday to Friday for one to two years.

As this is a government role, you must be an Australian citizen. Ideally we are looking for an experienced chemist but if you are a graduate with experience and a quick learner, you may be considered.



To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A Degree in the field of chemistry as a minimum
  • MUST BE AN Australian Citizen
  • Many years experience in an analytical laboratory conducting quality control testing on fuels or lubricants utilising GPC, HPLC, GC, GCMS and wet chemistry such as titrations
  • Graduates with an Honours degree or IBL and operational experience in chromatography may be considered
  • Fuels testing experience will be highly regarded
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to learn quickly
  • Must be an excellent team player with the ability to work autonomously as required
  • Well developed time management skills and the ability to multitask to assist you in meeting strict timeframes
