COMPANY

Our client is a NATA accredited laboratory that provides a drug testing service to industry both within Australia and Internationally. Based near the CBD, they are world renowned for their research and testing capabilities.

 

THE ROLE

Due to staff movement and an increase in workload, our client requires a Senior Analytical Chemist with several years’ experience to join their testing facilities on a permanent full-time basis. The successful candidate will have excellent GCMS and LCMS whilst SPE is desirable but not necessary. The perfect role for someone that wants to be involved with cutting-edge analyses—opportunities like this are few and far between.

 

DUTIES

As the Senior Analytical Chemist, your duties will include analysis of biological samples for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse, operation and maintenance of modern GCMS  and LCMS instrumentation as well as qualitative and quantitative TCO₂ confirmatory analysis of biological samples using ion-selective electrode instrumentation.

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for this exciting  role you should meet the following criteria:

  • A tertiary qualification in Analytical or Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline. Higher qualifications such as an Honours Degree with experience in the use of GCMS or LCMS during your research will be looked upon favourably.
  • A background in Pathology, Toxicology, Forensics, or Hospital Laboratories testing Biological Samples using Chromatography related instrumentation is a requirement.
  • Must have many years experience in the use of GCMS and LCMS.
  • Experience in solid phase and liquid/liquid extraction, Agilent ChemStation & Thermo Xcalibur MS software highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly personality are essential attributes, as this role involves working in a team environment.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must be willing to undergo a police check.
