CLIENT
Our client is a well known dairy processor and manufacturer. Their manufacturing facilities are based in South Gippsland, less than an hour’s drive south from Narre Warren. Due to growth, they require an Analytical Chemist to start as soon as possible.
ROLE
The choice is Yours! The right person can choose to join our client as a permanent employee or as a contractor for six or twelve months with all the benefits of a permanent, full-time role (leave, public holiday etc). This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with experience in the testing of dairy products using brand new HPLCs and ICP-OES. The right person will have excellent time management skills, be proactive and exhibit a sense of urgency.
Some of the duties include:
Site Product Validation such as powder shelf life claims, allergen claims, ingredient claims
Formulation related activities such as:
Analysing raw materials to verify component quantity against Certificates of Analysis (C of A) (or trended expectations)
Entering test results for raw materials into specialised software
Combining a range of ingredients into a formulations to produce a specified product.
Monitoring (via analyses) raw materials and trending results to predict changes in components e.g. protein or minerals in raw skim milk, to proactively alter ingredient ratios to ensure finished product remains within specified limits
Instrument Calibration and developing test methodology manuals
Liaising with external Laboratories, equipment and consumable suppliers
Liaising with internal QA and technical teams
Performing ICP-EOS, and HPLC analyses as required
Conducting internal audits
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be successful in your application, you will need to meet the following criteria:
An degree in analytical Chemistry or similar. Honours would be highly desirable but not necessary
At least five years experience working in a food or pharmaceutical laboratory or similar
Must have a working knowledge of ICP-OES & HPLC – method development and validation experience will be highly regarded
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Must have a pleasant personality, well organised and an excellent work ethic
You will be part of a dedicated and professional team, so you must be able to work as part of a team and autonomously
Proven time management skills and the ability to multi-task
