This role will be based in Melbourne and will look after all crop farms in Victoria. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing agronomy across company field operations and ensuring that crops are managed effectively to maximise yields and returns to farmers using industry best practice and that company develops and maintains a reputation for delivering highly professional agronomic advice
  • Working in close collaboration with company field officers and providing training as needed
  • Leading the development and introduction of new and enhanced methods for managing crops and the company’s program for development and introduction of new varieties



To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in agricultural science or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications with a specialisation in agronomy for row crop(s) will be highly regarded.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in agronomy, preferably with poppies.
  • Extensive knowledge of crop protection and management under Australian conditions
  • High level skills with Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • High level of self-motivation
  • Sound practical ability and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of scientific principles, techniques and methods
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task.
  • Key to this role will be your flexible “can do” attitude, excellent work ethic and initiative whilst working autonomously or as part of a team
  • Ability to share knowledge and train others as needed
  • Ability to work and liaise with a variety of people at all levels
