THE COMPANY

Our client is a high profile Australian Company which has been trusted by generations of Australians to provide naturally based pharmaceutical and home care products since the mid 1800’s.

Committed to using only natural ingredients and stringent quality control processes, the Company researches, develops, manufactures and distributes complementary and OTC medicines, medical devices, personal care and household products. With brand new facilities and a dedicated team of staff, the Company supplies product to all major retailers and pharmacies across Australia and overseas.

 

ROLE

Due to movement within the Company, our client is looking to appoint a Research and Development Chemist to join their R&D Team.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, some of your duties will include: the development of new products to add to the Company’s range of natural OTC pharmaceutical and nutritional product range; the review and improvement of formulae and packaging for existing products to keep in line with recent developments and current trends; and, liaising with universities, technical institutions, suppliers and contract manufacturers as necessary.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate all product documents and maintain information files relating to new products and improvements to existing products.
  • Responsible for coordinating stage gate (in conjunction with Marketing) and R&D change control documents.
  • Provide technical assistance as required to key departments (i.e. Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality)
  • Provide technical support for outlined projects with Universities and other institutions
  • Develop in conjunction with Quality Assurance, quality control analytical procedures and validate the analytical and manufacturing methods developed for both new, reformulated and existing products
  • Keep abreast of the latest findings in the scientific literature which relates to the Company’s areas of interest
  • Keep up to date with regulatory requirements concerning the registration of pharmaceutical products and medical devices
  • Assist QA with on-going quality issues and their resolution with existing products.

 

THE PERSON

You are a chemist with a few years experience and are excited by the prospect of developing and improving products. You are an exceptional problem solver, an independent thinker, resilient and confident in your abilities.

Well organised and able to multi-task, you will be a finisher and someone who enjoys the challenges and uncertainty associated with the research and development of new products.

You enjoy researching, working autonomously and liaising with other scientists and departments within the business.

To be short-listed for this exciting opportunity you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor of Science as a minimum majoring in Chemistry, Formulation Science, Pharmacy or Chemical Engineering
  • A few years experience in product development and formulation
  • Experience in laboratory practices and exposure working within a TGA GMP licensed facility is preferred but not necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team together with an excellent work ethic and mature attitude
  • Excellent computer skills and of course, a love for science!
