COMPANY

Our client is a leading and well known Australian Company that has been involved in the research, development, manufacturing and distribution of high quality skin care products for almost a century. With state of the art facilities and a dedicated senior team, the Company supplies product to all major retailers across Australia .

 

ROLE

Due to internal movement and the ever increasing demand for their products, our client is seeking to employ a Senior Manager to run their R&D function. This senior position reports directly to the Managing Director and is integral in ensuring the Company’s innovative research into new products and industry trends.

This role will be based at the Company’s Head Office in Melbourne, Australia, however, we are open to considering candidates with the right experience Australia wide and from overseas.

The successful candidate will have strong R&D experience in personal care. Areas of interest include skin and hair care and sunscreen formulation.

You must have leadership qualities, be customer focused, a decision maker and able to complete tasks and projects on time. To be short-listed, you will have worked in similar roles for a number of years and will have an excellent understanding of the personal care business and be aware of the regulations applicable in such an Industry.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • New product development, as well as continued improvement of existing products
  • Innovative research into new products and industry trends
  • Managing the development of methods and procedures for new product formulations
  • Manage a team of two R&D chemists
  • Working closely with internal departments to ensure a flawless transition of projects from development stage to manufacturing
  • Reverse engineering of existing market products
  • Manage the creation of product specifications and BOMs for new products
  • Manage the preparation of ingredient lists, finished good SDSs and other regulatory documents for customers
  • Monitor pilot and first production batches
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot production batches, when required
  • Manage the coordination and use of external laboratories for clinical and other product testing
  • Work closely with Marketing and Quality Assurance on GMP related projects.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Science specialising in a relevant scientific discipline
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role developing and formulating personal care products
  • Several years experience leading and managing an R&D team
  • Ability to manage projects and lead cross functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member or the Senior Management Team or individually under general direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with a proven ability to meet goals, targets and deadlines.
  • A good work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and a good team player is a must!
