Our client is a leading and well known Australian Company that has been involved in the research, development, manufacturing and distribution of high quality personal care products and cosmetics for almost a century. With state of the art facilities and a dedicated senior team, the Company supplies product to all major retailers across Australia.



Due to internal movement and continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Research and Development Chemist to join their R&D Team. Your role will include developing innovative products for customers, researching new technologies, identifying new product opportunities, as well as process and cost improvements. You will be a technical expert and provide advice to internal and external customers.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Formulation development and stability testing in response to customer requirements
  • Experiments and literature reviews
  • Undertaking in-vitro, SPF, water resistance and photo-stability testing as relevant to the development of sun-care products
  • Developing Product Information Sheets
  • Facilitating scale up from laboratory to trial/pilot and full scale batches and undertaking manufacturing validations
  • Providing trouble shooting for manufacturing
  • Assisting in laboratory maintenance and upkeep
  • Assisting in training laboratory staff
  • Maintaining laboratory health and safety standards



A true team player, the ideal candidate will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related experience in product development and quality control function
  • Strong formulation skills in personal care OR cosmetics, nutraceuticals or the pharmaceutical industry
  • Adept at performing and interpreting literature searches
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Must be a lateral and innovative thinker with a strong practical ability
  • You will possess excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task.
  • Key to this role will be your flexible “can do” attitude, excellent work ethic and initiative whilst working autonomously or as part of a team
