Our client is a high profile Australian Company that has been involved in the research, development, manufacturing and distribution of high quality personal care products for almost a century.  With state of the art facilities including R&D and QC laboratories, and a dedicated senior team, the Company supplies product to all major retailers across Australia and APAC.



Due to internal movement and continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Research and Development Chemist within their R&D Team.  You will be a qualified researcher with a PhD in the area of emulsions.  You will understand emulsions and will have the ability to research new technologies in order to develop innovative products for customers, identifying new product opportunities, as well as process and cost improvements.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Formulation development and stability testing in response to customer requirements
  • Experiments and literature reviews
  • Undertaking in-vitro, SPF, water resistance and photo-stability testing relevant to the development of sun-care products
  • Developing Product Information Sheets
  • Facilitating scale up from laboratory to trial/pilot and full-scale batches and undertaking manufacturing validations
  • Providing troubleshooting for manufacturing
  • Assisting in laboratory maintenance and upkeep
  • Assisting in training junior laboratory staff
  • Maintaining laboratory health and safety standards



A true team player, the ideal candidate will need to meet the following criteria:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry or similar with a good understanding of emulsions
  • Ability to formulate personal care products
  • Adept at performing and interpreting literature searches
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Must be a lateral and innovative thinker with a strong practical ability
  • You will possess excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task.
  • Key to this role will be your flexible “can do” attitude, excellent work ethic and initiative whilst working autonomously or as part of a team
