CLIENT

This newly created Senior R&D role with our client, is based in Melbourne within their Research & Development Team and will be focused on the domestic and international skincare range. Reporting to the R&D Manager, the primary responsibility of this role will be to supervise, coordinate and manage the R&D team to successfully complete new product development projects.

 

ROLE

This senior, newly created R&D role with our client is based in Melbourne within their Research and Development Team and will be focused on the domestic and international skincare range. Reporting to the R&D Leader, the primary responsibility of this role will be to supervise, coordinate and manage the R&D team to successfully complete new product development projects.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Manage the performance of the R&D team, coach, mentor and develop their skills
  • Drive the development of innovative and technically advanced products on time and in line with business requirements
  • Assess the existing formulations and review current NPD projects to ensure cost-effective & efficient formulas are approved
  • Coordinate documenting of formulations, cost, manufacturing parameters, product information, specifications, and testing requirements in accordance with business needs
  • While working with internal and external stakeholders, research new ideas and raw materials with your team
  • Supervise and initiate laboratory trials of new formulations, scale-ups, and first production runs
  • Ensure training matrix is updated and all member of the team are trained in relevant processes and test methods
  • Assist with client meetings on new product development
  • Ensure all projects are managed and record-keeping is at its best
  • Complete and review all relevant technical reports
  • Maintain laboratory health and safety standards.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application, you will ideally meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor degree in Formulation Science, Formulation Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Material Science or similar
  • Extensive experience in product formulation in Cosmetics, Skincare or Therapeutic productsin the industry
  • Experience in a relevant leadership role,  3 years’, in Cosmetics, Skincare or Therapeutic products
  • A strong understanding of the product development process from concept through to scale up
  • Proven experience with emulsions, surfactants, rheology modifiers, preservatives, and relevant additives
  • Must be resourceful and have initiative
  • Highly organized with the ability to project-manage in a dynamic environment where priorities change
  • Confident and Resilient – a demonstrated record of success
  • Computer Skills and previous experience of using an ERP system would be an advantage
