Unique opportunity to join a Government Body to assist and carry out environmental risk assessments of existing Industrial Chemicals. Our client currently has the need for a qualified professional to join their team for an initial three month contract starting in early April.



If you are a qualified scientist with initiative, a keen eye for detail, who has demonstrated superb writing skills, excellent time management, multi-tasking and communication skills; is a team player and is ready for their next career challenge then keep reading.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct environmental risk assessments of chemicals and prepare reports. You must have well-developed written and oral communication skills and qualifications preferably in environmental science, chemistry, ecotoxicology or other relevant qualifications/experience.

You must be available to commence employment in early April 2016.



In this role, the successful applicants will:

  • Undertake scientific searches on existing industrial chemicals, evaluating the information and their impact on the environment.
  • Prepare risk assessment reports by retrieving relevant data from various information sources.
  • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders.
  • Prepare a range of correspondence, including briefs, procurement and program management documentation.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.



To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a PhD or Masters in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Ecotoxicology or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to retrieve and analyse scientific information on chemicals from a variety of sources and prepare related reports.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, including demonstrated capacity to meet tight deadlines and to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to deal with a varying work load.
  • Great work ethic, reliability and a good eye for detail are essential for this busy role.
  • Must have work rights in Australia.
