Our client is a well-known and highly respected Food Manufacturer. They are part of a global, diversified international group employing over 100,000 employees worldwide. With clarity on future direction and clearly defined values, our client is one of Australia’s and New Zealand’s largest food manufacturers.

 

THE ROLE

This exciting position is based Regional Victoria, less than 100kms from Metropolitan Melbourne.

Reporting to the Head of Quality of a large Quality Assurance Team and with two direct reports, the purpose of this role is to ensure that all products comply with the Australian New Zealand Food Standards (FSANZ) Code and other legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining databases of formulations, manufacturing specifications used by Operations to manufacture product and finished goods specifications used by internal and external customers.

Main responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Ensure all formulations and manufacturing specifications are available in Operations to ensure correct manufacture of product and to allow for accurate costing.
  • Prepare and maintain a database of finished goods specifications (including customer web based specifications), ensuring compliance to the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing departments as part of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Process Improvement (PPI) systems, ensuring compliance to Australian Food Standards Code and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a database of specifications covering products that form part of the Dairy Division. Providing support for the development of new products and changes to existing products.
  • Provide technical and legal support and assistance to the Fresh Division in the development of new products.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

This is a very large, complex and fast-paced operation and requires a Manager who is passionate with a big focus on regulatory systems and processes. You must be decisive and confident, able to work with cross functional teams to ensure all regulatory concerns are addressed appropriately.

You will have strong leadership qualities and will take ownership of the tasks at hand. You will build credibility and trust by fostering open communication, accountability and recognition for a job well done. You will demonstrate energy and passion for the overall vision and direction of the company.

To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Food Science, Microbiology or similar. Additional qualifications in Law will be highly regarded.
  • Good workign knowledge of food regulatory compliance and risk management issues to assist with market entry and ongoing legal compliance of finished goods and marketing campaigns in accordance with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, the Trade Practices Act, and other legal regulatory issues.
  • Excellent understanding of the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment and knowledge of manufacturing processes to ensure specifications accurately reflect the finished product
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines without losing focus
  • Ability to effectively communicate changes and updates to all key stakeholders so that the business is aligned in it’s approach
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Self motivated with a strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work professionally and build relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Good work ethic, strong presentation skills and a good team leader
