Our client, specialising in food testing, is currently seeking an Administration Officer to join their busy, North Melbourne based laboratory. The laboratories, offices and staff amenities are new and modern, the people friendly and for those who wish to drive to work, there is plenty of parking onsite.



Reporting to the Administration Manager, this permanent, part-time position requires the person to work Tuesday to Friday every week, from 8.30 am to 5:00 pm, with one hour for lunch (7.5 hours each day). The position has become available due to a staff member retiring.

The main responsibilities associated with this position include: Data entry, registering samples into a LIMS,  entering results into the LIMS, generating reports, sending reports to clients, answering the phone, receiving and replying to basic customer emails (non-technical).  The successful person will also need to learn other tasks, such as generating client invoices.  A qualification in science will be well regarded but not necessary.

To be shortlisted you will meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in the management and organisation of a business office.
  • Excellent computer and word processing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, well organised, enthusiastic, self-motivated and goal orientated.
  • Relevant qualifications and training, including office management are desirable but not necessary.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of business office principles.
  • Must be client focused.
  • Able to understand and meets the needs of clients.
  • Ability to communicate clearly using approaches suitable to the audience to achieve maximum impact.
  • Qualifications in a science discipline or prior work experience in the scientific field will be highly regarded.
