CLIENT

Our client is a well-respected Global lubricants manufacturing company located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. They hold a number of accreditations including IATF 16949. Their product range is varied and incorporates lubricating oils and related specialties for virtually all areas of application and sectors.

 

ROLE

The R&D Department requires a Chemist who is confident, requires minimum supervision and displays high attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be someone who is eager to join a professional and modern laboratory equipped with impressive instruments. They will be very strong at both time and project management and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Reporting to the R&D Manager and with appropriate training, the successful candidate’s main duties will include the development and analysis of new products, adjustment of formulations, generation of manufacturing instructions and QC specifications, the maintenance of laboratory accreditations and the day to day upkeep and safety of the laboratory.

Main responsibilities associated with this role include:

  • Development of new products to meet customer specifications
  • Testing for chemical and physical properties of new formulations, existing formulations and raw materials
  • Maintaining all formulations, specifications, and manufacturing instructions according to relevant quality systems
  • Working on multiple projects and tasks
  • Investigation of customer related inquiries

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet to following criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications (degree or higher) in Chemistry or similar
  • Three years or more work experience in a similar role, ideally in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Very strong time management and project management skills and the ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding and some experience working with Quality Management Systems such as ISO (for manufacturing and/or laboratory). Working knowledge of IATF 16949 will be highly regarded
  • Proven experience in PD or QC of products, recording of results, and laboratory equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of ICP preferred but not necessary
  • Experience with manufacturing and testing of lubricants or related products will be highly regarded
  • Extensive computer literacy
  • Excellent problem solving skills and technical report writing
  • Good work ethic, well-developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with teams is a must!
