Based in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs, our client is a local manufacturing business with it’s range of products being supplied to the food industry. Locally owned and operated, they have been growing successfully for more than a decade. Substantial investment in plant and equipment has resulted in a multi-million dollar business, and their clients range from small to large manufacturing companies including well recognised FMCG brands.



Reporting to the Quality Manager, this part-time position is responsible for ensuring Quality Systems are kept up to date. The key focus of the role is ensuring compliance to the SQF System, HACCP and Food Safety Plans, and to meet all relevant Client and Governmental Regulatory Authority requirements.

A critical success factor for the role will be to maintain all Quality Systems including requisite documentation to ensure that product integrity is upheld and recognised by all internal and external stakeholders, including annual auditing cycles. As a part of this, authority for the Approved Supplier Program; Raw Material and Finished Goods Specifications; and Allergen Management will fall within the remit for this role.

The working hours are flexible, varying from either two full-time days or part-time hours across the week, except when customer or regulatory authorities are present for quality system reviews.



To be short-listed for this great opportunity, you will have a background in food technology, particularly from a Quality Assurance perspective. You will most likely have a degree in Food Science & Technology, although a related Scientific discipline with experience in a Food Manufacturing environment within a QA role will also be well regarded.

In addition, you will have:

  • At least five years experience in a QA role within a Manufacturing Business
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP & Food Safety Systems
  • Experience in maintaining SQF &/or BRC Systems
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing operations, including: goods receipt; batching; processing; and packing
  • Be adaptable and flexible to deal with a varying work load
  • High level of proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of FSANZ
  • Understanding of ”Vital” – with previous use of this program being well regarded
  • Strong eye for detail is essential for this quality role
