Our client is a well established, international, processed metal manufacturing and distribution company, with the main manufacturing site co-located with its Head Office in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. In addition to a second manufacturing site in Sydney, they also have sale offices and warehousing across Australia, together with a significant export business that is experiencing strong growth. Their own manufactured product range is augmented with distribution on behalf of several other metal related Company products, into clients as diverse as building, construction, and plumbing, through to mining, aerospace, marine & transport industries.

Due to our client’s consistent business growth, the current manufacturing site is undergoing process improvements and implementation of automation within their manufacturing department.



This quality role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who has experience in quality control and assurance with experience in the metals and alloys industry.

The successful candidate will have the responsibility of carrying out some internal audits according to ISO9001 QMS and will perform quality control testing in the laboratory.



  • Conduct daily quality control testing of manufacturing samples using Spectrometer
  • Perform wet chemistry testing
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Create Certificate of Conformance and Test Certification
  • Attend to customer complaints, investigate and write reports
  • Perform internal audits of the manufacturing process and product audits according to ISO9001
  • Write audit reports



To be considered for this role, applicants will need to substantiate how they meet the following criteria:

  • Have a tertiary qualification, Diploma or a Certificate in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent
  • A few years of quality control and quality assurance experience in an industrial product manufacturing environment is essential and experience in the metals industry will be highly regarded 
  • A few years of experience with internal auditing of manufacturing processes and products according to ISO9001 standards
  • Experience with the customer complaint process and reporting of audit findings
  • Proven experience with quality control testing including wet chemistry and physical testing of manufactured products
  • Experience operating a Spectrometer
  • Certification or training relating to internal auditing is preferred
  • Desire, ability to learn, and passion for quality
  • Have excellent time management skills to deal with different duties across QC and QA
  • Have well-developed problem-solving skills to deal with both internal and external issues as they arise
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to assist you in dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders.
