THE COMPANY
Our client is a reputable food ingredient manufacturer based in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Organically certified, their products are designed to deliver science-based bioactive products to different groups of the population including young children.
ROLE
The Quality Control Manager position will provide leadership to the operation, schedule and function of the laboratory and will be key to ensuring that all aspects of the Company’s Quality Control Program are developed and maintained to ensure compliance of manufactured products against required specifications.
Some responsibilities associated with this role:
Directly manage the training requirements and duties of the Quality Control Chemists
Ensure compliance of internal and external laboratory methodologies and practices against customer specifications and regulatory standards
Manage the budgetary spending within the Quality Control Department
Implement appropriate measures and/or mechanisms to ensure continuous improvement in the Quality Control of raw material, in-process product and final product
Ensure compliance of external analytical laboratories against required quality expectations
Responsibility for verification and quality sign off of all production related CCPs and CPs as part of the overall product batch review and final QC release of product
Ensure the calibration of critical analytical equipment used for in-process testing of products is appropriately maintained
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
Degree in Food Science/Technology (or related Scientific Discipline)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quality related position within the food manufacturing industry
Previous management or supervisory experience within an analytical laboratory, preferably in the healthcare, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing sector
Sound communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders
Understanding of HACCP principles & knowledge of ISO/FSSC22000 and GL
A sound understanding of microbiological and chemical analysis techniques (including fatty acid analysis using GC)
Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving and report writing skills
Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced environment, including the drive and energy for meeting deadlines.
Current driver’s license.
