Our client is a leading olefins manufacturer and supplier of thousands of household, consumer and industrial products. Our client is looking to appoint a laboratory Technical Officer on contract for six months in its hydrocarbons testing laboratory.  Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to commence work in mid August.

The position is full-time and requires a minimum of three years testing experience in an industrial laboratory environment, preferably with well developed quality, safety and information management skills.

This contract role will ideally commence immediately and will require you to work 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There is potential for this to extend for a subsequent period depending on the business needs.

The successful candidate will be conducting a combination of analytical and physical testing of polymer products, intermediates and raw materials to verify satisfactory quality and fit-for-purpose properties.



We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Technical Officer with few years of experience in a laboratory who is interested in progressing in their scientific career!

  • A Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline
  • Experience in a Quality Control laboratory associated with chemical manufacturing
  • Routine and ad-hoc testing of miscellaneous hydrocarbons, including gases, liquefied petroleum products and heavy by-product materials
  • Previous experience in operating analytical instruments – XRF, AAS, GC
  • Proven experience with wet chemistry
  • Ability to record results and interpret results
  • Proven experience with Microsoft soft wares especially Excel
  • Use their acquired skills and expertise to assist in improving laboratory productivity and efficiency
  • Good writing skills and computer literacy in English
  • Must have a good eye for detail and a strong appreciation for safety in the work place
  • Excellent communication skills – you will be liaising with personnel of all levels of the company
  • Good time management skills and the ability to multi task
  • MUST be a good team player and reliable!
