Our client is the world leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of premium lubricating oils, greases and related services to automotive, industrial, marine, aviation, oil exploration and production customers across the world. ROLE

The successful candidate will undertake the quality control testing of production samples utilising various industry specific equipment and wet chemistry techniques.  Some of the analytical instruments include ICP, density meter, UV/VIS, IR, Karl Fisher.  Specific tests include viscosities, rust, pour point, colour etc. This is a 6 moth contract role.

Your duties will include:

  • Routine QC Sample Preparation and Testing
  • Use of Testing Equipment such as – ICP and FTIR
  • Bench Testing – Karl Fisher and TAN, density, pour point, colour and etc
  • General Laboratory Housekeeping
  • Maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
  • Commitment to HS&E requirements in a fast paced, diversified laboratory environment
  • Focusing your attention to detail with the ability to review technical data and test results for correctness

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or similar
  • 1 – 3 years experience working in a lubricant or petroleum testing laboratory
  • Experience using ICP, TAN, FTIR and Karl Fischer
  • Previous experience working as a QC Chemist in a petroleum or lubricant testing facility would be highly regarded
  • Must have a good eye for detail and an appreciation for safety in the work place
  • Excellent communication skills – you will be liaising with personnel of all levels of the company
  • Experience with JDE software and ability to learn new software would be highly regarded or any other laboratory database
  • Good time management skills and the ability to multi task
  • MUST be a good team player and reliable!
