COMPANY
Our Client who is located in the western suburbs of Sydney, is a New Zealand owned and operated business established almost 50 years ago. A well-known and industry respected manufacturer of ‘niche market’ coatings, aerosol products and chemicals, our client continues to experience substantial growth and expansion in the Australian market.
Due to this growth, our client requires an experienced Quality Assurance and Quality Control Team Leader to look after their quality systems and supervise laboratory activities.
ROLE
This position is ideal for a senior industrial Chemist that has been exposed to quality systems, quality assurance and quality control. Experience with colour matching, pigments, polymer or paints will see you short-listed and on the path to the next step in your career.
The successful candidate will have strong Quality Assurance experience, leadership qualities, will be customer focused, a decision maker and able to complete tasks and projects on time. To be short-listed, you will have worked in similar roles for a number of years in a manufacturing environment and will have a good understanding of ISO9001, NATA and Australian Paint and Approval Scheme (APAS).
Some of the duties associated with this role include:
Maintain all quality and technical certifications
Minimise rework of batches and improve processes in timely and efficient manner
Ensure efficient performance of Laboratory functions with emphasis on QC of manufactured batches, colour matching and compliance to ISO, APAS and NATA
Coordinate new product development processes and reformulations
Provide management and support to supply chain ensuring smooth processes
Look after customer complaints efficiently
Perform Quality Control checks when necessary
Work with production staff to create SOPs
Update and write procedures and policies in accordance to ISO9001
Ensure calibration of equipment is done regularly and maintain NATA accreditation of the Laboratory
Provide technical training support
Liaise with technical Managers on projects especially on dispersions with aqueous technology
Ensure compliance of the entire site and the Laboratory to relevant regulations including DG licensing, GHS Systems, ISO, NATA, Transport and APAS re-certification
Coordinate external audits, prepare internal audits and address any non-conformances in procedures or policies
REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application you must meet the following criteria:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, majoring in Chemistry or similar
5-7 years’ experience in a similar role – Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the pigments, coatings or chemicals industry
Colour adjustment knowledge and pigment dispersion experience will see you shortlisted
Sound experience in ISO9001, writing of Quality Management Systems – Policies and Procedures
Working knowledge of internal auditing, raising non-conformances and closing non-conformances
Experience working in a NATA accredited Laboratory
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with pigment dispersions, road marking paint or coatings
Experience managing various tasks within a laboratory with emphasis on QC of products and instrument calibration
People training and management experience will be highly regarded
Exeprience handling customer complaints
A good work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member or autonomously
