Based in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs, our client is a successful manufacturing business that has been growing for over three decades and provides a range of well-recognised products through the major retailers, in both Branded and Private Label categories. Quality is viewed as a valuable business activity, not merely a compliance activity.



This is an opportunity is to support the Quality Assurance Manager in all aspects of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance System. This will involve conducting training of staff in all areas of Food Safety, including: GMP; HACCP; and compliance to standards. Additionally the role will take accountability for identification of gaps and subsequent corrective actions through conducting internal audits and trend analysis.

This role would suit someone who has had experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role in Food Manufacturing environment beyond their tertiary education, and ideally include direct people management. Duties will also include proactive improvement initiatives and strong support with external audits and subsequent requirements.



You will have a degree in Food Science & Technology or a related degree, and have previous experience in Quality roles within a Food Manufacturing environment.

In addition, you will have:

  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience working with Food Quality Management Systems, including HACCP & Food Safety
  • Working knowledge of SQF and Retailer Quality Systems is imperative
  • Experience in Quality related supervisory roles with demonstrated effectiveness in team engagement and process improvement
  • The ability to work professionally and build relationships with external customers, vendors, and auditors
  • Well established analytical and problem solving skills ensuring appropriate actions are taken in a timely manner. You will be decisive with a sense of urgency in driving issues to closure
  • Good work ethic, strong influencing skills and the ability to balance a range of activities
  • High level of proficiency in Word and Excel, and evidence of the ability to document results accurately and interpret findings
  • Well developed communication skills as some training of factory staff in Quality, Hygiene and OH&S will be a requirement for this role
  • Familiarity with FSANZ
  • Strong eye for detail is essential, including proofreading of product labels
