COMPANY

Our client is a successful manufacturing business supplying products locally and exporting all over the world, with revenues in excess of $100M and attractive profit margins. The business performance has been fueled by both organic growth and acquisitions, the latter opening up new Channel opportunities domestically and across other markets.

The product range covers body, hair and skin care, with a number of company owned premium brands as well as products made under third party licensing agreements.for other companies. Several of the company brands are #1 in the category and market they participate in, with strong growth plans aligned with consumer preferences for more natural products.

The Head Office is in the South East of Melbourne, which is also the location of its modern manufacturing footprint, and its Technical Center housing both R&D and Quality Assurance Teams.

 

ROLE

Reporting to the Quality & Technical Manager and with five direct reports, this role is responsible for the implementation of the company’s new Quality Management System (QMS) in order to meet the company’s objectives. Proven ability within in change management of introducing new processes and systems will be imperative, particularly as it pertains to the people. This is not an ordinary compliance role, and the scope will include every facet of Supply Chain and significant parts of the Commercial team as well. All this within a backdrop of bringing on additional businesses with incremental products. Essentially this role is to determine the vision for the new QMS and deliver it.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Drive transformation change across the entire business with regards to Quality, ensuring every department in the organisation recognises that Quality is an essential part of their own deliverables
  • Review and chart every aspect of the value chain, to subsequently improve each individual element and the overall integrated process
  • Facilitate, educate and implement the new system and processes on a functional and cross-functional basis to achieve a new “way of working” such that continuous improvement becomes a way of life for all employees
  • Maintain accreditation for ISO and other business requirements as part of Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Manage the team of Quality Professionals, provide leadership and guidance through this period of profitable growth and innovation.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will be an experienced Quality Manager who is proficient at managing change. You will have leadership qualities, be customer focused, a decision maker and able to define, design and deliver a program to transform the Quality function into an agile business partner within the organisation.

To be successful in your application, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • A relevant Science or Technical degree
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in personal care manufacturing industry or similar
  • Previous Quality Management experience within a related industry
  • Understanding of GMP requirements, processes and quality aspects of company operations
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, time management and organisational skills
  • Troubleshooting and investigation skills
  • Hazard and·risk identification/assessment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Innovative thinker and change agent – through facilitation, engagement and empowering behaviour
  • Advanced IT Skills, including ERP and MS Office suite – particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Project & Program Management expertise, including managing scope, time and cost through techniques of influence, stakeholder and risk management
