Reporting to the Operations Manager this full-time position is based in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.
The person required for this role will manage the day to day operations of the manufacturing plant. Our client’s team of up to 6 people includes staff across manufacturing, quality control, and maintenance. Ideally, we are looking for someone with ten years of direct product management experience in plastics manufacturing.
Day to day management with the running of manufacturing lines including coordination of production, staff, and materials
Adherence to the production plan
Maintaining and promoting a safe working environment at all time and at the highest level
Being the first point of contact for any plant-related issues, including maintenance, reliability, and efficiency
Manage all product and process non-conformances as a priority and assist in resolving customer complaints
Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure adequate housekeeping, environmental compliance, and overall plant maintenance
Provide the highest standard of product quality by ensuring production follows the formulation, standard operating procedure, and QC checks in place per the Quality Management System ISO9001
Ensure operators are adequately trained and according to their job descriptions and have current training according to the relevant legislation
Provide leadership and mentoring, manage the overall performance of your team
Regular collaboration with warehouse staff and procurement to ensure synergy to the overall business
Set up and maintain KPI’s to measure and achieve performance across safety, manufacturing efficiency, product delivery, quality of the product, and conversion costs
Ensure records are kept at a high standard according to internal ERP and Quality Management System.
You must have proven experience in manufacturing, have a strong safety focus, and be decisive to ensure all concerns are addressed appropriately.
To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:
At least 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing management role in plastics or resin manufacturing
A detailed understanding of the manufacturing processing plant and equipment
At least 5-10 years’ experience in managing production teams across different functions of operations
Proven leadership skills and people management skills with an emphasis on product quality and safety
Proven experience with dealing with non-conforming processes and products, quarantine practices and near-misses
Proven ability to stop unsafe work practice and implement correct safety practices across the facility
Whilst formal qualifications are not mandatory, tertiary education in Chemical Engineering or similar will be well regarded
