Our Client is an independent, non-government, not-for-profit organisation. It advocates for a future in which technological sciences, engineering & innovation contribute significantly to Australia’s social, economic and environmental well-being.

A driving force in technology solutions for a better Australia, they work closely with relevant organisations in Australia and overseas in the areas of engineering, sciences and technological sciences.

Our client promotes science, and maths education via programs focussing on enquiry-based learning, teaching quality and career promotion. It fosters national and international collaboration and encourages technology transfer for economic, social and environmental benefit.



Reporting to the Executive Director, Policy, you will be assisting with the management of research projects, developing policy positions and engaging with key stakeholders to facilitate the adoption of these policies.

Our client wishes an analyst to start in January 2019 and another to commence in March/April 2019. Both positions have a fixed-term duration of 12 months, which we are advised will be reviewed for the possibility of an extension.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing research projects and developing policy positions arising from the outcomes of these projects
  • Coordinating the development of policy statements in identified areas of strategic focus and profile
  • Providing support to Forums, Committees and Working Groups
  • Engaging with key stakeholders to facilitate the identification of key issues and adoption of key policy statements
  • Scoping new research project opportunities and helping secure resources those projects
  • Contributing to international research and policy-based projects
  • Providing technical input and taking minutes at meetings as directed
  • Identifying and analysing policy issues of relevance
  • Coordinating drafting and editing policy studies, reports and other outputs
  • Representing our client in meetings or seminars
  • Promoting the organisation to national and international stakeholders



  • A tertiary qualification in technology, engineering or science or equivalent work experience in a related area, relevant postgraduate qualification and/or policy-related experience shall be viewed favourably
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research and analysis
  • A good understanding of national and/or international science/technology policy
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to successfully build and maintain internal and external relationships at all levels with government, industry and academia
  • Well-developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to implement organisation strategies, policies and business plans
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team, managing workloads and prioritising activities to meet organisational deadlines
  • Excellent level of computer literacy
