In Australia, our client is a dynamic growing business servicing the Australian Food Manufacturing Export market. The development of this Melbourne based, Food & Dairy Testing Laboratory, is a further step to provide value to both the industry and the consumer in China. Reporting to the Microbiology Team Leader, you will be directly responsible for the analysis of customer food and dairy products, ensuring the achievement of operational and service objectives to support the vision & strategic plans of the business.

Some of the duties associated with this role include:

  • Perform routine food and dairy microbiological analysis.
  • Run a variety of GB food and dairy cultural and rapid methods such as pour plate, spread plate, MPN, ELISA and PCR.
  • Ensuring the service delivery meets or exceeds your customers’ requirements.
  • Accurately check data produced by these methods and make recommendations for further investigation if required.
  • Liaise closely with other team members to ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Undertake validation, shelf life, challenge and confirmatory analysis.
  • As directed by the Team Leader or Laboratory Manager, perform both enumeration and confirmation.
  • Ensure instrumentation is maintained on a daily basis including calibration.
  • Maintenance of relevant Microbiological techniques, controls, standards and methods.
  • Perform other duties as directed.



To be shortlisted for the exciting opportunity, you will need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • A Degree in Science specialising in Microbiology, Biotechnology or Food Science.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing microbiological analysis within a Laboratory environment.
  • Cultural and rapid method experience in a commercial or consulting laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral, written & listening).
