Our client offers testing services to food manufacturers such as the meat, dairy, confectionery, beverage and allied industries.

This exciting role is permanent and reports directly to the Business Unit Leader of a very large national Microbiology Department.  It is a great opportunity for someone who would like to be the Technical Specialist for GMO and Allergen testing in food products!

The successful candidate you will be responsible for validating innovative methodology and technological solutions to support client needs. You will use your knowledge in GMO/Allergen testing to create structured and documented validation strategies for the development and transfer of new methods into operation.

As the Technical Specialist, you will train relevant staff in the use of the new methods and ensure appropriate competency and performance for existing procedures.  Your prior experience with NATA and ISO 17025 quality standards will provide support in quality systems improvements.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor of Science up to PhD level, preferably with a major in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Technology or similar.
  • Experience in developing and validating methods utilising RT-PCR, ELISAs and other innovative methodologies for the purpose of identifying and quantifying GMO and Allergens in foods
  • A Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment will be highly regarded
  • Experience and knowledge in the application of NATA and Quality Systems such as ISO 17025
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a role that has required leadership and supervision within a Laboratory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/co-ordinate service/project delivery across functional groups
  • Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus
  • Excellent administration and organizational skills
  • Solid Microsoft office skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong team building and leadership attributes a must
