Our client is well known, multi million-dollar pharmaceutical company that produces a range of prescription and OTC Medications for both their own brands and strategic international partners. Based in Melbourne’s South East, they continue to grow by investing in development and commercialising new products. Adding to their range, they assist Medical Practitioners and Pharmaceutical Retailers in generating positive patient outcomes.



We are looking for a Pharmaceutical Chemist with experience in the development,  and validation of HPLC analytical methods. Supporting R&D and QC, you will be able to develop methods for new molecules from scratch according to ICH, FDA guidelines and compendial requirements.

This role is a 2 year fixed term tenure working directly for the client and the successful candidate will be entitled to annual leave, personal leave and payment for public holidays.  There is a possibility that the tenure will be reviewed for extension.



A true team player, the ideal candidate will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Tertiary Qualifications (BSc/BPharm or equivalent) with at least five years experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • At least 3 years of experience in method validation using HPLC in pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong method development experience using HPLC from scratch
  • Proven experience in the analysis of pharmaceutical or chemical products and proficient in the use of scientific instrumentation, in particular Waters Empower™ computer systems.
  • Understanding and commitment to GMP/GLP requirements, quality systems and OH&S
  • Use of other analytical techniques such as GC and UPLC would be highly regarded but not essential
  • Hands on experience with PDA detector
  • Experience with BP/EP and USP
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software, in particular Excel and Word
  • Sound practical ability (able to produce accurate and precise results) and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of scientific principles, techniques and methods
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and a strong ability to multi-task.
  • Key to this role will be your flexible “can do” attitude, excellent work ethic and initiative whilst working autonomously or as part of a team
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to write documentation to a high standard of language and content.
