Laboratory Technician – Quality Control, Construction Materials (The position has been filled)

Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of bitumen based products, providing customers with asphalt, blended binders and emulsion products. They are a listed company and employ more than 18,000 people. They continue to invest in state-of-the-art technology such as asphalt plants that use more recycled products and substantially less energy.



Due to a busy period for the next six months, our client has a vacancy in their Research and Development Infrastructure Services Centre, in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs. This is an entry-level role requiring basic skills, so we are looking for Diploma or Cert IV qualified candidates in a scientific discipline.

This contract role which will commence immediately and will require you to work 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be conducting basic quality control testing of bituminous emulsions and road construction products.

  • Testing is time sensitive so we require a candidate that respects urgency and has good attention to detail



We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician with a year or two experience in a laboratory who are interested in gaining valuable QC work experience in a R&D setting and are not afraid to get their hands dirty!

  • A Diploma or Certificate IV in chemistry
  • Experience in an industrial laboratory associated with chemical manufacturing or construction materials such as polymers, oils, bitumen, asphalt, etc will be highly regarded but not essential
  • Good writing skills and computer literacy in English
  • Must have a good eye for detail and an appreciation for safety in the workplace
  • Excellent communication skills – you will be liaising with personnel of all levels of the company
  • Good time management skills and the ability to multi-task
  • MUST be a good team player and reliable!
