THE ROLE

Our client requires a contract Laboratory Technician to conduct part time work at their Technical Centre in the Western suburbs.

The Technician will conduct physical testing (tensile testing including sample preparation via hydraulic press), instrumental analysis (DSC), gravimetric analysis, pigment dispersion assessment by microscopy and other tests as directed by the polyethylene products.

The position will require some manual work to handle sample bags and sample collection “wheelie bins”.

The successful candidate will be required to work 4 hours per morning with a start time of between 7:00am and 8:30am every Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tue for a period of twelve weeks.

Relevant procedure and safety training, inductions will be provided.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Ideally this role would suit a new chemistry or materials engineering graduate or a Laboratory Technician.  We require someone to start asap.

Requirements include:

  • Degree or Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience working with instrumented techniques, plastics or wet chemical analysis will be highly regarded but not essential
  • The ability to demonstrate commitment to quality of outputs
  • Good learning orientation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and personnel at all levels
  • Strong problem solving skills and initiative
  • Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and plan work efficiently
  • Demonstrate an absolute commitment to workplace safety
  • Access to a reliable vehicle as public transport does not service the area well
