Our client requires a Laboratory Technician on a short-term contract to conduct full-time work at their Technical Centre in the Western suburbs. This contract role will facilitate an ongoing project being lead by a Product Development Specialist and serves to augment the activities of an experienced staff member, who will be available to act as a mentor for the new team member.

In this role you will undertake a range of  mechanical and physical tests of polymer samples, including but not limited to:

  • Carbon black content;
  • Melt index;
  • Tensile testing; and
  • Charpy impact tests

Additionally, you will also support the project’s efforts in relation to weighing, sonication, and compounding of samples containing specialised and novel polyethylene additives.

The successful candidate will be provided with the relevant procedure and safety training, on-site inductions will also occur.



Ideally, this role would suit a recent chemistry or materials engineering graduate or a Laboratory Technician.  Our client requires someone to start in early October.

Requirements include:

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience working with scientific instrumentation, plastics, or wet chemical analysis will be highly regarded but is not essential
  • The ability to demonstrate your commitment to the quality of work outputs
  • Possess an aptitude for learning new techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and personnel at all levels
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative
  • Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and plan work efficiently
  • Demonstrate an absolute commitment to workplace safety
  • Given public transport does not service the area well, it is essential you have access to a reliable vehicle.
