Our client is a well-known manufacturer of food products and are based in the south east suburbs of Melbourne. Due to movement, they are looking for an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join their team ASAP.



A three month contract for a Laboratory Technician who has many years’ experience working in a food testing laboratory or food manufacturing laboratory.

This role will consist of routine chemistry testing for ash, fat, moisture, pH, and salt. A small part of the role will include Microbiology tasks including testing for Coliforms and Pseudomonas.

Other duties include the filing of QC testing records/samples, calibration of basic equipment, complete legible notebooks and maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.

The ideal candidate will have many years’ experience working in a food laboratory, a strong understanding of testing requirements and the ability to work autonomously to complete testing requirements. You will be assertive and show initiative as well as troubleshooting capabilities.

Your application will be considered if you have the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (Food, Chemistry, Microbiology)
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a Food Laboratory
  • Experienced in basic wet chemistry techniques, sample and media preparation and good record keeping skills
  • Have experience with microbiology techniques
  • Able to work alone and make laboratory decisions autonomously
  • Assertive with great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Have experience working under GMP/GLP
  • Have the right to work in Australia, currently located in Melbourne and are available to start immediately
