OUR CLIENT

Our client is an Australian icon in Water Heating Systems and has been at the forefront of development in Water Heating technologies, including solar and renewable energies. They are committed to delivering product excellence, high level customer service support and providing challenging opportunities for their staff.

Their new, state of the art R&D Laboratory provides testing services in the areas of electric, gas, heat pump and solar water heaters, plus some photovoltaic and battery testing. The R&D team consists of approximately 35 technical staff, providing facilities and testing services to product groups within R&D as well as testing services to Corporate Quality.

 

ROLE

Our client currently has an opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Facilities and Testing Supervisor to fill a newly created role at their Rydalmere facility.  The person we are looking for will be an experienced and practical Senior Laboratory Supervisor with strong leadership, administrative and technical skills who will be pivotal in achieving the Company’s goals!

Reporting to the Certification Manager, this role will manage further upgrades and maintenance of the laboratory facilities and manage the day to day operation of the new Research and Development Laboratory. With three direct reports, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal use of staff and resources.

You will be a “hands-on” supervisor operating and troubleshooting equipment, including but not limited to the testing of electric, gas, heat pump and solar heaters, some photovoltaic cells as well as battery testing, under a NATA Quality System.

Other responsibilities associated with this role include:

  • Develop, implement and document standard test and reporting procedures
  • Achieve and maintain NATA accreditation
  • Schedule and control testing throughput
  • Ensure all necessary QA/QC documentation is accurate and retrievable

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in testing in a highly regulated laboratory environment
  • Ideally you have a Degree qualification in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic
  • You will have at least 10 years of hands-on testing and troubleshooting experience of equipment, ideally in a NATA accredited laboratory and be a competent and successful supervisor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven background in the preparation of professional reports and operating procedures
  • Be a team player with a demonstrated ability to lead and work in a diversified team environment whilst also being capable of working autonomously as the need arises.
  • Ability to think clearly and logically in a challenging environment as well as troubleshoot and think ‘out of the box’ to solve technical problems on your own.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Exhibit a positive, professional attitude whilst being a pro-active supervisor.
  • Have a good work ethic and the ability to liaise with a variety of people at all levels.
  • Competent in the use of Office Software package.
