CLIENT

Our client is a leading local manufacturer and supplier of oil, lubricant and coolant products, providing retail and trade customers with products that improve performance and extend life of engines, motors and moving parts. They supply products throughout Australia and New Zealand through their own commercial team, and through distributors in other countries around the world. Currently they are in an expansion phase, running on a seven day operation, and need support in testing their products to ensure their high quality is maintained in a timely manner.

 

POSITION

This is a full-time contract, initially for five months that may be extended or convert to permanent for the right candidate. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. However, overtime on a Saturday or Sunday will be required on a rotational basis to match factory operations. We are looking for someone who has three or more years of experience in a laboratory testing a similar product range. This is a hands-on role and in addition to the testing, close collaboration with the factory will be required to ensure turnaround sample times are met in the appropriate priority.

Additional support will be provided to other parts of the business, including R&D, Marketing and Sales, so strong interpersonal skills are required.

The role will include calibration of equipment, testing viscosity and elemental analysis (XRF).

 

REQUIREMENTS

The requirements for the role are:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science or similar
  • Experience having worked in an industrial laboratory associated with chemical manufacturing such as oils, greases, lubricants or coolants.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Report writing skills and computer literacy in English
  • Must have a good eye for detail and an appreciation for safety in the work place
  • Good time management skills, the ability to multi task and be calm
  • Able to work independently as well as being a good team player
  • Reliable with an excellent work ethic
  • Flexible to meet the requirements of the business
