Our client is a well-known, successful pharmaceutical company based in Melbourne. ROLE
Our client requires a hands-on, technically minded person to maintain this state-of-the-art, pharmaceutical research facility. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude and will ensure all the laboratories, equipment, buildings and associated resources continue to function safely, at an optimal level and in line with business needs and expectations.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Ensuring smooth day-to day running of the laboratories and office areas and following up on any maintenance issues
Point of contact for all laboratory and facility projects and in charge of scheduling laboratory equipment maintenance;
Controlling stocks of chemicals and consumables
Obtaining quotes and placing of orders for chemicals, laboratory equipment and building services
Continual review laboratory systems and processes
Maintaining awareness of OH&S requirements and ensuring the facilities conform with health and safety requirements via the development and execution of relevant plans in the workplace
Enforcing and applying all relevant policies to continually evolve the environment towards strong safety behaviours at all levels
Co-ordinating and compiling safety documentation relating to equipment and processes within the facility
Organizing and leading safety council meetings
Management of laboratory waste disposal and safety database register
REQUIREMENTS
A true team player, the ideal candidate will need to meet the following criteria:
A tertiary qualification in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline
Experience in OH&S management with a preference for formal training and/or qualifications in OH&S
Experience in a laboratory including the handling and storage of dangerous goods will be well regarded
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a high level of computer skills
Proven ability of good record keeping and report writing skills
A diligent, hardworking individual with a strong work ethic who can champion tasks to completion
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent time management skills
Optimistic and resilient individual, willing to learn new skills
