THE ROLE
Based in Sydney, the Key Account Manager reports to the Regional Specification Selling Manager, South Asia region. The role is responsible for managing key accounts and developing new ones in the area of protective coatings. The range includes Passive Fire Protection / Insulation, Linings, Concrete Repair, High Temperature Coatings and Corrosion Resistant Coatings.
The successful candidate will have a technical background and will be experienced at driving sales through the specification of protective coating products for various construction projects.
As the Key Account Manager, you will stay in close contact with nominated key accounts to ensure you are aware of, and involved in all new and upcoming projects. You will also manage market intelligence and resources within your segment to source new accounts and secure specification on targeted construction / infrastructure projects in your region. In doing so, you be responsible for developing new client relationships and manage existing ones.
Some key duties associated with this role include:
Deliver sole (or preferred) specification position on targeted projects as determined in consultation with Regional Managers, and support the regional sales team to secure these projects
Undertake Key Account Management activities on a number of target accounts (current and new) to ensure mutual profitability growth
Identify and follow up on significant business opportunities with current and new accounts.
Call existing and potential customers on a regular basis to maintain close contact with the marketplace.
Become the point of contact for customers by building long-term relationships and by participating in customer events
Perform continuous market research among stakeholders in the entire value chain and maintain professional relationships with the industry stakeholders
Deliver presentations at relevant association events to market your products and services, targeting specifiers such as architects, engineers and builders
Plan, monitor, participate in and report on the execution of sales activities conducted with regard to designated customers
Liaise with marketing, operations and finance on a regular basis regarding the levels of necessary sales support required and coordinate their actions towards assigned customers
Ensure customers are educated on the technical requirements of available product lines as well as the features and benefits of available products and services.
Monitor the quality of the technical support provided in handling complex customer inquiries and the resolution of any complaints
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:
Degree qualification in a relevant field of Chemistry or Engineering
A qualification or certificate in Sales Management will be highly regarded
NACE 2 Certification
Senior Sales experience with three – five years minimum experience in protective coatings
Working knowledge of protective coatings, passive fire protection, tank lining or concrete repair/coatings technologies will see you short-listed
Proven track record of creating and maintaining customer relationships
An understanding of the contract chains used in various protective coating segments
A clear understanding of indirect value selling and able to demonstrate experience of selling within a complex contract chain
Experience with product specification in a relevant setting and proven ability to identify business opportunities that deliver sales results
Strong analytical, strategic thinking and influencing skills
Development and execution of strategies, including planning and implementation of various initiatives
Ability to work autonomously but as an integral part of an extended team
Excellent time management and communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of the organization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with professional presentation
