Our client is a Global Player in the Olive Industry. They are Australia’s largest olive farmer and producer of extra virgin olive oil, boasting this country’s biggest olive tree nursery and olive oil bottling, storage and laboratory facility.

The company’s unwavering focus on quality, innovation and customer satisfaction, has been instrumental to the business receiving multiple international awards, its expansion to the US and its success in the international arena.

 

THE ROLE

A leader in the science of Olive Oil, our client is looking to increase their innovation activities through the better use of their olive farms. Although the primary focus will be on the development of products and/or ingredients for various FMCG Industries, areas such as agronomy, product storage/processing and supply chain efficiencies will also be looked at.

To achieve this, they have created a new position for a Grants Manager. Reporting to, and working closely with the Director of Innovation and Value Adding, the successful candidate will reflect the needs of the organisation in all grant applications and relationships. You will be responsible for sourcing grant funding opportunities, writing funding applications and managing grant contracts. In doing so, you will establish and nurture relationships with Regional, State and Federal Government and Industry Grant Providers.

Some of the responsibilities associated with this role include:

  • Researching and identifying potential grant opportunities that align with current business activities and innovation pipeline
  • Writing grant applications to potential and current grant providers for funding
  • Reviewing and finalising grant contracts and agreements
  • Contract management of successful grants ensuring that the company stays on track with stated grant objectives, and ensures timely completion of stated deliverables
  • Reporting and acquittals as per contractual requirements for all grants
  • Managing partner relationships through regular updates to grant providers

 

THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for an energetic and passionate grants expert with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate effectively and develop good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Other requirements for this role include:

  • Five plus years of experience in end-to-end grants management
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economic Development, Science or similar
  • A strong existing network of grant providers
  • Demonstrated ability to research and identify suitable grants, write letters of inquiry, respond to RFP’s, and develop compelling grant proposals
  • Experience in the preparation of successful funding submissions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as you will be dealing with a diverse group of people. Being able to adapt to the level of those that you are dealing with will be crucial!
  • It goes without saying that you will have excellent project management skills that are equally as important as exceptional time management skills that allow you to multi-task and deal with a number of projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed income targets
  • Prior experience in successfully managing a diverse grants portfolio
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate internally and externally, in addition to communicating with the granting organizations, especially funding officers
