CLIENT

Our client, a well known and highly respected chemicals manufacturer, is currently seeking a motivated Quality Control Chemist with some experience in a similar industry, to join their afternoon shift team for a 12 month contract. This 12 month contract will be under a review for extension or permanency.

Please note: Full product training will be provided  for a period of approximately two months. Training will be conducted during morning shift hours with a possible start of 6.30 am, 7.30 am or 8.30 am. Once the person in this role completes their training, their working hours will be 1.30 pm – 10 pm, Monday to Friday. Afternoon shift does have a loading paid on top so please inquire about the hourly rate you would be paid!

 

ROLE

The successful candidate will have University or industry experience with analytical instrumentation and have general wet chemistry skills.  We are particularly interested in candidates who are motivated, hands on, hard-working, dependable, and show initiative and loyalty.

Your duties will include:

  • Routine QC Sample Preparation and Testing
  • Use of Testing Equipment such as – ICP and FTIR
  • Bench Testing- including Manual Titrations
  • General Laboratory Housekeeping
  • Filing and Documentation
  • You will be trained how to use SAP QM

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or a related field
  • Graduates are encouraged to apply, but candidates with few years of experience working in a QC Laboratory in a Manufacturing Environment will also be considered.
  • Experience using ICP, FTIR and conducting manual titrations
  • Previous experience working as a QC Chemist in a chemical industry would be highly regarded
  • Experience using analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry
  • Must have a good eye for detail and an appreciation for safety in the work place
  • Excellent communication skills – you will be liaising with personnel of all levels of the company
  • You will need to enjoy ‘hands on’ roles and fast paced QC environments
  • You must be computer literate, experience using SAP would be highly regarded or any other laboratory database
  • Good time management skills and the ability to multi task
  • MUST be a good team player and reliable!
  • Must be flexible with early morning starts to accommodate laboratory demands
