Our client, a Division of the Department of Defence, based in beautiful Tasmania boast state of the art R&D facilities. Due to the ongoing project workload, they are in need of an experienced Food Scientist to join their Food Science team on a full-time, six-month contract.
THE ROLE
This permanent/full-time contract position will commence in December 2020 and complete on 30th June 2021.
The Food and Nutrition Science and Technology Capability (FNSTC) within the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group provides Defence with science and technology (S&T) advice and research in support of Defence fresh and combat ration feeding systems. The product range includes specialised foods for use in combat ration packs. We are seeking an experienced Food Scientist to work in the FNSTC work programs.
The Food Scientist will provide scientific input into S&T/Research & Development activities with the main body of work being focused on the quality assurance/ evaluation program for ration pack components (food and packaging).

SELECTION CRITERIA
The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work on a range of activities in order that the work program is achieved both effectively and efficiently. The workforce is small but a diverse range of work is performed.
You must be self-motivated to ensure efficient use of time and to limit the need for close supervision once competency in tasks has been demonstrated. You will be willing to work within a team environment with varying degrees of individual effort depending on the task at hand.
A willingness to share knowledge and provide support to other team members is an important element of the job.
