Our client is a well-known and highly respected Food Manufacturer. They are part of a global, and diversified international group employing over 100,000 employees across numerous countries. With clarity on future direction, clearly defined vision and values, our client is one of Australia’s and New Zealand’s largest food manufacturers.

With emphasis on innovative thinking, disciplined execution, collaborative team work and employee satisfaction, this role aims to ensure that the Company meets its future commercial ambitions by guaranteeing their products continue to meet stringent internal and external Food Safety requirements.



This is a newly created role and is based in Regional Victoria, less than 100Km from Metropolitan Melbourne. Reporting to the Manager of a large Quality Assurance Team, its purpose is to ensure method of manufacture and product formulations do not compromise Food Safety. With four direct reports, the successful candidate will champion Food Safety by keeping up to date with local, national and international trends.

This is a complex and fast-paced operation and requires a Manager who is passionate about food manufacturing with a big focus on Quality, Food Safety and Risk Management. Decisive and confident you will be able to work with cross functional teams and will liaise with NPD, Technical and Production, to ensure all Food Safety concerns are addressed appropriately. You will have strong leadership qualities and the ability to build credibility and trust by fostering open communication.

This key role will ensure the continued success of the business through collaborative working and influencing across many departments.



To be successful in your application you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications, minimum Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Food Microbiology. Additional qualifications in Food Safety and Risk Management will be highly regarded.
  • You will have more than ten years of experience working in a food manufacturing environment involved in Food Safety activities preferably in chilled processed foods, poultry, meat, seafood or similar.
  • Several years’ experience in supervisory/management roles is expected.
  • Proven technical capabilities and experience working/leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record in driving business performance is essential. Must be able to demonstrate achievements in managing a Listeria Control Program.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of driving sustainable organisational performance improvement through effective leadership, change management and continuous improvement.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to influence a range of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Well established Food Safety troubleshooting skills and the capacity to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken in a timely manner. You will be decisive with a sense of urgency in driving issues to closure.
  • Good work ethic, strong presentation skills and a good team leader who plans and supports succession within the Group is a must!
