Our client is an agency of the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. It was established in 1993 to centralise the registration of all agricultural and veterinary chemical (agvet) products into the Australian marketplace.
The registration process involves scientifically evaluating the safety and efficacy of a product in order to protect the health and safety of people, animals, plants and the environment.
Opportunities such as this are rare! One of Australia’s key regulatory authorities is relocating most of its functions from Canberra, Australia’s capital, south-west of Sydney, to Armidale in regional Northern New South Wales.
This move has created a number of positions for Directors in the Armidale operations at Executive Level 2.
These roles can be offered under various employment options of fixed term tenures of two, three or four years. You can choose an option that suits your current lifestyle needs and career ambitions. A secondment from a comparable government agency would be considered favourably for suitable candidates.
With relocation assistance and the option for sponsorship, these roles present the perfect scenario for professionals to work for a key government authority. If you enjoy travelling, these positions will provide you with the perfect opportunity to explore the many wonders of Australia’s regional NSW and beyond.
All slightly different in requirements and functions, the roles require similar skills and experience.
There are Director positions that are responsible for managing the process of evaluation, allocation of applications and project work as well as the timeframes for specialty streams within the Registration Management Evaluation Program. This includes product registration and permits for the approval of veterinary medicines and pesticides. There are also two Director positions that specifically address Scientific Policy and the other role is that of Director – Chemical Review.
Working within established legislative and policy frameworks, Directors are required to provide significant and detailed specialist advice on issues related to the assessment of applications, and address stakeholder concerns in relation to complex and sensitive matters associated with such evaluations.
Working with a high level of autonomy, Directors are required to make sound decisions on issues that may significantly impact on the Authority, based on professional judgement, evaluating risks in the context of a complex regulatory environment.
Directors will also manage relationships with external service providers, internal and external clients and stakeholders, including commonwealth, state and industry bodies and non-government organisations.
