THE CLIENT
Our client is an agency of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. It was established in 1993 to centralise the registration of all agricultural and veterinary chemical (agvet) products into the Australian marketplace.
The registration process involves scientifically evaluating the safety and efficacy of a product in order to protect the health and safety of people, animals, plants and the environment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Based in Canberra, this is a permanent, ongoing role which could be offered as a fixed term tenure of three years. With relocation assistance and the option for sponsorship, this role presents the perfect scenario for professionals to work for a key government authority.
The Director Efficacy Assessment is part of the Risk Assessment and Capability Unit. This Unit uses principles of risk management to efficiently plan evaluations and undertake risk assessments that are required to determine satisfaction against statutory criteria.
The Risk Assessment and Capability Unit comprises of two functional teams, Pre-Evaluation & Quality and Scientific Assessment team which incorporates the Efficacy function.
The Director Efficacy Assessment, is primarily responsible for ensuring that uses approved by the Authority are effective, and that they are safe to the target (treated) animal, plant or crop.
The Director will manage the process of evaluation, undertaken by themselves, staff, other Authority officers and external service providers to agreed time frames. The Director will also manage relationships with external service providers, internal and external clients, and stakeholders, including commonwealth, state and industry bodies and non-government organisations.
